An amazing natural area surrounded of a big biodiversity of flora and fauna. You have unlimited possibilities to see all kinds of species of plants and birds along your way in the briges. There are over 350 species of birds and over 700 species of plants in this park. Your guide will tell you some names of the plants and animals you see along the way. A guided tour will normally take a little longer than a self-guided tour, as you stop on several occasions to listen to the stories of your guide. Along the trail, you come across six hanging bridges, on which you have splendid views of the park.

Take a taste tour through the history of chocolate making followed by a hike to La Fortuna waterfall. Immerse yourself in the aromas and delicious flavors of the world of chocolate. During your taste tour, you will discover the history of chocolate – beginning with chocolate’s important role for the indigenous populations, its later arrival in Europe, and finally the global market. You will see the transformation of the Cacao bean to chocolate products available on the market. While participating in the hands-on demonstration of the chocolate-making process, you will get an opportunity to mix chocolate with different exotic ingredients such as Jamaica flower, natural cinnamon, nutmeg, and chili powder.
Then, heading onwards to the breathtaking La Fortuna Waterfall. This 70 meter (230 ft) waterfall spills out into the rainforest with gorgeous jungle view all around. The top of the waterfall offers birds eye views into the tropical canyon below. Visitors can hike down to the base of the waterfall on a well maintained and easily negotiable trail. At the base there are several downstream pools for a quick dip to cool off. You can hike back out to the top of the waterfall at your own pace.

There is no greater attraction in the northern region of Costa Rica than the Arenal Volcano, and why not enjoy it to the fullest in an even more picturesque and complete tour? We combine the enjoyment of a boat ride with a walk through the rainforest of the National Park to get the most impressive views of the colossus from all angles.
The tour begins with a 20-minute drive from the hotel to the Peninsula section of the National Park, near Lake Arenal. Here we will begin a 1.5 km (1 mi) long walk along an easy trail for about an hour. Throughout the tour, you can enjoy excellent views overlooking Lake Arenal and the Tilaran Volcanic Mountain Range in the observation bays that are found along the trail. At the end of the walk, we will have the opportunity to climb to the observation platform approximately 12 meters (40 ft) high for a closer and more amazing view of the volcano, and receive a full explanation of its history, activity cycles, and geological formation among other relevant data.
At the end of the trail, embark on a captivating boat ride across the shimmering waters of Lake Arenal, a true gem nestled amidst the Costa Rican landscape. As you set sail, you’ll be greeted by a panorama of natural wonders, with the majestic Arenal Volcano as a breathtaking backdrop. Today you have the day at Leisure. Ginger and Tony will be taking anyone who wants to take a rainforest walk and visit the Texas A&M Soltis Center and Research field station in nearby San Isidro. Additional cost applies.

The Soltis Center for Research and Education is a biological field station owned and operated by Texas A&M University. It is in the Central Volcanic Range) of Costa Rica and is part of the well-known Monteverde Cloud Forests located toward the northwestern part of the range. The forests at the Soltis Center are classified as tropical mid-elevation rainforests (450 to 700 meters above sea level). It is part of the biological corridor Las Nubes, which connects most of the cloud forests along the Tilaran and Central Volcanic Range. The Soltis Center is a neighbor to the Eternal Rainforests of the Children. Upon reaching the center we will speak with the directors to learn about this important research center and take part in a rainforest walk to a local waterfall followed by lunch.
