Public buses

Direct buses from San Jose to Quepos, the nearest town to Manuel Antonio, provide a scenic journey and are affordable transportation for travelers on a budget.

Tracopa is the only bus company that covers this route. Conveniently, their buses are available nearly every hour from 06:00 to 19:30.

The bus departs from the Tracopa Bus Terminal in downtown San Jose. This bus station is just a few minutes walk from the Plaza González Víquez train station. The final stop is at the Tracopa Bus Terminal in Manuel Antonio, near the beach.

You can check the complete schedule on the Tracopa website. However, online reservations are not available, and you can only purchase tickets at the bus terminal. That’s why we recommend arriving at the bus station about 30 minutes before your preferred bus departure time.

From Manuel Antonio to San José, direct buses depart from the beach. Catch the bus at the designated stop along the way.
