Pachira Lodge is off the beaten track along the North Caribbean coast, a nesting ground for Costa Rica’s green turtles. Tortuguero seems to be a place where time has stood still and nature has been left unspoiled. Along the “little Amazon of Costa Rica,” you will find no roads or cars and everything must be accessed by boat in Tortuguero, including the lodge which is just a couple of minutes down the canal from the Tortuguero airstrip. Boat tours through the canals of Tortuguero leave directly from the docks at the Lodge and provide closeup encounters with sloths, monkeys, armadillos, turtles, otters, toucans, and many other birds, plus vipers and caiman
The lodging at Pachira Lodge is simple, with screened windows designed to let air flow in and keep insects out. You will find the pool that overlooks the canals at Pachira Lodge a nice spot to enjoy a tasty beverage and cool off from the jungle humidity while watching monkeys play in the trees above the pool. All meals are served family style, so it is necessary to eat at specified times, giving you an opportunity to interact with other guests.
