The Santa Elena cloud forest reserve is located in the Caribbean part of the continental divide, at a height average of 1600 meters above sea level, with a predominant climate by the trade winds of the northeast, with an annual rainfall of approximately 4000 mm³, an average temperature of 18 C and relative humidity around 100%.

It is located in the Conservation Area (ACAT), is part of the Monteverde Protective Zone, and is located within the biological corridor, Pájaro Campana.

The Reserve has created thanks to the determination of the community to share the benefits of tourism and use them as a tool, for the common benefit. Income is used for the protection, management of the Reserve, to provide a better quality of Education in the School and in the Schools of the area, as well as to collaborate in community projects. The Reserve of Santa Elena Cloud Forest is one of the first Country Reserves managed by a Board of Directors, which provides a direct benefit to the Community.
