This unique treehouse stay caters to travelers who want to be immersed in nature. San Carlos River Boat Tour
One of the most exciting ways (and only ways) to explore the area is by riverboat. Board the boat with your river Capitan as you begin the trip downriver. This river route was for many years one of the only transportation routes connecting the San Juan River and San Carlos. Still, today canoe and boats are the key transportation methods in the area. Along the trip, your guide will stop for wildlife with frequent sightings of crocodiles, turtles, tropical birds, and more. Once we reach the mouth of the San Carlos river you will make a stop in the small town of Boca San Carlos on the Nicaragua border where you will visit some of the locals of this small river community outpost.
In the afternoon grab one of the kayaks and do some birdwatching on the small onsite lagoon.

Your local naturalist guide will lead you on an adventure starting with a walk over the canopy hanging bridges giving travelers a unique view of the forest and offer up an excellent opportunity to spot birds, monkeys, and other creatures. After the bridges, you will head to the Arenal Waterfall which cascades 200 feet (60 m) into a clear pool surrounded by lush forests. While here, you can take pictures, swim beneath the falls, or simply sit and enjoy the scenery. After our walk back out of the waterfall canyon, we head to Dona Mara’s home for a hands-on Tortilla-making lesson and locally prepared Costa Rican lunch.
