- Visit the quaint village of Tortuguero, a picturesque community accessible only by boat

DAY 3:
Tortuguero
- Breakfast at the ecolodge
- Explore the canals of Tortuguero in search of wildlife
- This afternoon you will be free to hike, explore, rent a kayak or get out the binoculars for some great wildlife viewing on the property.

DAY 4:
Tortuguero – Arenal Volcano (La Fortuna)

DAY 1:
San José
You’ve Arrived
Arrival in San José. Private Ground Transfer Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO) to your San José Hotel. Free time for sightseeing. Depending on your arrival time, you may have time to visit the bustling capital city of San José. At the heart of downtown take a stroll through the Plaza de la Cultura where you Costa Ricans gather and feed birds. If you head to Juan Mora Fernández Square, you can take in the local culture on Avenida Central and sip some delicious Costa Rican coffee at one of the busy “cafeterias,” enjoy a dreamy ice-cream cone or visit the “Teatro Nacional,” a replica of the Paris Opera House. Lunch and Dinner are on your own today.

DAY 2:
San José – Tortuguero
“The Amazon of Costa Rica”
Early morning departure from the hotel. Along the route, you can learn about the cultivation and production processes of
bananas, one of the world’s most popular fruit. Head to the far northeast corner of Costa Rica. Your drive will take you alongside
the extraordinary Braulio Carrillo National Park and through the Caribbean coast’s banana plantations before your boat ride into
“The Amazon of Costa Rica” — Tortuguero. Continue on your journey via boat to the remote Tortuguero canals and your eco-lodge
located on the waterway canals. After you arrive at the lodge and check-in, you will enjoy lunch. This afternoon you will visit the
quaint village of Tortuguero, a picturesque community accessible only by boat. Your guide will give you time to explore the green
sea turtle museum and the beautiful Atlantic beach. Enjoy some time in the hammock or by the pool before enjoying a delicious
dinner. While sleeping tonight be lulled to sleep by the sounds and rhythm of the jungle.
NOTE: Day 2 and 3 schedules may be reversed or modified, depending upon your day of arrival. The guide will go over-scheduled
activities at check-in.
Overnight at Tortuguero área Ecolodge (B, L, D)
DAY 3:
Tortuguero
Breakfast at the lodge. Today, you will explore the canals of Tortuguero in search of wildlife, birds, and reptiles with your experienced naturalist guide. The small boats make it easy to get close to the many species of birds, monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, manatees, and fish native to Tortuguero National Park. This afternoon you will be free to hike, explore, rent a kayak or get out the binoculars for some great wildlife viewing on the property. Relax and take a refreshing shower before dinner at the lodge. Depending on the time of year you visit, you might consider this optional activity: Turtle Nesting Tour (July-October) or Guided Hike.
Enjoy a special dinner on the Tortuguero Canal Floating Restaurant Katonga is not a canoe, and definitely not a boat either. It is the new fun way to quietly navigate the Tortuguero Lagoon while enjoying a delicious dinner on board. The Katonga was carefully built to provide a fun, refreshing, and relaxing way to dine and cruise around the Lagoon with the sounds of the surrounding jungle as they awaken at twilight.
NOTE: Your tour schedule will be confirmed at the time of booking. Your local guide may need to make modifications to the schedule and change the order of the activities.

DAY 4:
Tortuguero – Arenal Volcano (La Fortuna)
Breakfast at the lodge. You will wake up to the lush green foliage and brightly colored tropical plants that attract so many birds, butterflies, and much more to this birding paradise. Early morning birdwatching on the grounds before breakfast provides one of the best times to encounter many species. After breakfast you will leave Tortuguero’s jungle waterways and head to Arenal for an amazing volcano and rainforest experience, passing through the agriculturally rich Northern lowlands towards the iconic Arenal Volcano.
When you catch your first glimpse of Arenal you will be mesmerized by its beauty, so have your camera ready. You are likely to see monkeys, coatimundis, and toucans along the way. This afternoon you will stop to see rescued animals and birds at an Animal Sanctuary, and this evening you can relax in thermal water that will restore your body and renew your energy, so make sure you have your swimsuit and a change of clothes. Dinner will be enjoyed at The Springs resort with a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano.

DAY 5:
Arenal Volcano (La Fortuna)
Majestic Arenal Volcano sits in the heart of the rainforest and is surrounded by tropical flowers, birds, sloths, monkeys, and toucans. Today you will hike to the Arenal Waterfall and visit the Sloth Territory looking for these gentle, slow-moving rainforest creatures. And, lunch today will be an amazing experience. Not only will you have a hands-on Tortilla-making lesson, but you will get to enjoy some of these delectable treats in the company of a local family. While your tortillas and lunch are cooking on Dona Mara’s wood-fired stove, you will be relaxing back at the rancho with family members. This culturally enriching day will be sure to be one of the highlights of your trip. If skies are clear, you can enjoy spectacular views from almost anywhere in La Fortuna.
During the evening your guide will take you to La Fortuna downtown, you will have some time to explore the town, buy souvenirs or just enjoy the magic views of the Arenal volcano. Afterward, dinner will be served at one of the tastiest restaurants in town. This town with the central park and church as the focal point, and Arenal as its background, has lots of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores, a great place to pick up snacks, coffee, salsa inglesa, chilero or tabasco made in Costa Rica to take back home. If you haven’t tried Costa Rica’s ice cream yet, buy a cone in town, you won’t regret it – so creamy and delicious – or maybe you prefer tropical ice with one of the local flavors like Guanabana or Mango!

DAY 6:
Arenal Volcano (La Fortuna) – Manuel Antonio
Breakfast at the lodge. If you are an early riser, take a stroll on the grounds of your hotel and look for birds that love the early morning hours. Today you will leave the rainforest and Arenal Volcano behind and be on your way to the stunning Central Pacific Coast. At about the halfway point, you will stop for a guided Crocodile Boat Tour.
The adventure takes place on the Tárcoles River, one of 4 rivers flowing out into the Nicoya Peninsula, and home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild with individuals measuring up to 15ft long. In addition to the crocodiles, over 50 different kinds of birds can be seen on-site, including the very rare scarlet macaw and a great variety of resident and migrant waterfowl. Iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards are very common as well. The Jungle Crocodile Safari tour time is 1.5 hours in length.
We will head down the river as the boat heads along the Estero Guacalillo, a beautiful mangrove ecosystem that features four different species of mangrove trees. We will enjoy a local buffet lunch after the boat tour.
As we head to our final destination in Manuel Antonio there will be time to relax around the pool, catch some sun or enjoy a cocktail to catch the magnificent sunset. Dinner on your own

DAY 7:
Manuel Antonio
You will take a short drive to Manuel Antonio National Park. The entrance sits right at sea level making it an easy park to hike. But don’t let that fool you, because this park is packed with animals. Naturalist guides carry high-powered spotting scopes that provide you with an optimal view of toucans, sloths, monkeys, and much more. At the end of the hike, you will enjoy a fresh fruit snack and some icy cold water before heading back to the hotel with plenty of time to relax at the pool this afternoon.
For those who prefer to spend some time enjoying the golden-sand beaches of Manuel Antonio take your suit with you. Your guide will come back after dropping the rest of the group at the hotel.
In the afternoon you will cruise the Pacific coastline, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. There is just no other way to get a spectacular view of the Pacific coast than by boat. If winds permit, the captain will set sail so you can enjoy the experience even more. Stop at a protected cove to snorkel while the crew prepares a tasty lunch. Enjoy tropical fruit cocktails, beer or other beverages, and the gentle tropical breeze. Dolphins love to frolic in the wake of the boat, and there are two annual migrations of humpback whales, but no matter what time of year you go, you will be sure to enjoy this day. End the trip with a view of the sun setting over the Pacific horizon.

DAY 8:
Manuel Antonio
Today you will volunteer at Kids Saving the Rainforest – Wildlife Rescue Center and Sanctuary whose mission is to protect the diverse wildlife of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast by rehabilitating wildlife, conducting original scientific research, training volunteers, and promoting conservation and reforestation with Wildlife BIologitst Dr. Soto and his team. This wildlife sanctuary is home to over 50 animals that cannot be released back for different conditions. You will have the evening free to enjoy your last night in the country. This evening you will enjoy time together with your group during sunset and dinner at Ronny’s, a local favorite.

DAY 9:
Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is the last day of your memorable trip to Costa Rica. You will head back to Juan Santamaríeea (SJO) International Airport in San José and check-in for your flight home. Your head will be filled with memories of Costa Rica, the charming, genuine “Ticos” you have met, and the indelible experiences you have had along the way.

Find My Costa Rica
PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP, VISAS, SHOT REQUIREMENTS Participants are responsible for obtaining proper entry documentation. All foreign nationals including infants are required to possess a valid passport to enter Costa Rica. All passports must have at least six months remaining before expiration at the time of departure from Costa Rica. Visitors from the US traveling with a passport issued by a US agency are not required to have a visa or shots when traveling from the US, but visa and/or shot records may be required by travelers from other countries or US travelers when the US is not their point of embarkation before arriving in Costa Rica. It is each traveler’s responsibility to ascertain whether a visa or shots will be required and to secure necessary documentation prior to travel. No refunds will be given for missed flights or denied entry caused by failure to carry proper documentation or for any other reason. If travel documents are lost or stolen or other issues need to be resolved with the participant’s embassy once in Costa Rica, there will be no refund for forfeited transfers, hotel rooms, or tours. We will gladly provide assistance, but any incurred expense would need to be paid at the time service is rendered and are at the guest’s sole expense. Visitors to Costa Rica may carry a copy of their passport in lieu of the original while traveling within the country.
DEPARTURE TAX Departure Tax is now included in the ticket price for most airlines, but please verify with your air carrier prior to travel.
DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS A deposit of $100 per person is required at the time of booking. Deposits are non-refundable unless stated differently at the time of booking. If you are not paying in full at the time you make your reservation, you will receive an invoice with a final payment due date specified. If we have your credit card on file, it will automatically be charged for any balance on the due date specified, if payment has not been made in full in advance of the due date. It is your responsibility to notify us if your credit card expires or is canceled. If you are making payment online and we do not have your account information on file, a payment reminder will be sent and payment will need to be received by the agreed due date. Any reservation made within 31 days prior to arrival must be paid in full at the time of booking. If payment is not made in full by the specified due date, the reservation will be canceled, rooms and tour activity space released, and no refund of any deposits or payments collected will be refunded.
CHANGES TO ITINERARY Any changes to the itinerary at the guest’s request while in Costa Rica are at the guest’s sole expense. NO REFUNDS will be given for any unused rooms, tours, meals, or transfers. No exceptions will be made. For bookings made within 30 days prior to the departure date, the itinerary is final. We will do our best to assist with making changes with the change fees assessed. Within 61+ days of travel: $25.00 per change Within 15-60 days of Travel: $50.00 per change Within 14 days of Travel: $100.00 for parties of one to five, $150.00 for parties of six or more All change requests must be via telephone during regular business hours. Changes to reservations cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to assist you.
CANCELLATION POLICY All cancellations must be relayed to us via telephone during regular business hours and must also be submitted in writing to our office. The date of the response from us, acknowledging receipt of your request with our cancellation confirmation number, is the date that will be used to determine which penalties outlined below will be assessed. It is your responsibility to verify that you have written notification from us that your request has been received. No refunds will be made for unused hotel rooms, meals, diving, tours, or transfers. These policies do not apply to any airfare booked through FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. You will be given specific airline cancellation policies at the time of booking. The policy for the property where you are staying and the dives you booked are subject to the following cancellation penalties:
- Cancellations 31+ days prior to arrival – loss of deposit
- Cancellations less than 15-30 days prior to arrival – loss of deposit and any penalties applied by providers
- Cancellations 14 or fewer days prior to arrival – 100% penalty
NO SHOWS No shows will forfeit the full amount of the package.
INSURANCE We strongly encourage all guests to purchase comprehensive travel, medical, accident, luggage, emergency, trip interruption, and dive insurance prior to the departure date. Activities such a scuba diving, white-water rafting, zip-line canopy, canyoning, rappelling, tubing, kayaking, horseback riding, or ATV tours, as well as visits to volcanos, hot springs, mud baths, and spas, carry inherent risks. Participation is voluntary and all activities are performed at the customer’s own risk. We will be happy to provide a quote for trip interruption and/or dive travel insurance if you provide us with your birth year.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- What to bring while traveling and touring: A small backpack for your towels, mosquito repellent, etc., plus a small amount of money for additional beverages, snacks, or souvenirs.
- Please be advised that local laws and customs prohibit the sale and service of alcohol On Thursday and Friday (Good Friday) before Easter Sunday.
- Please note that all itinerary times are approximate. We try to cater to our guest’s needs and will modify activities to meet these needs when possible.
- Prices do not include tips (tour escort, guides, drivers, baggage handlers, cowboys, divemasters, etc.). Many of the various people who will help you during your stay will greatly appreciate any consideration you can afford to give them.
- Not included in tour prices: International or in-country ground or air transfers not specifically included in your itinerary; departure taxes; cost of passports, visas, or tourist cards; excess baggage fees; additional fees assessed by airlines; personal expenses such as room service, beverages, or laundry; gratuities to tour escort, guides, or drivers, personal communication charges; personal insurance; or any sightseeing stops, tours, meals, or beverages not specifically included in your itinerary.
- Although Costa Rica is a small country, and the distances in miles or kilometers between cities may be short, due to the conditions of the winding, and sometimes bumpy roads, clients can expect long travel times between travel points.
- Traveler’s checks are not readily accepted in Costa Rica, due to the long wait for funds to become available.
- It is not necessary to exchange a large amount of money into local currency as US dollars are widely accepted. Airport money exchange centers do not usually give a competitive rate.

- Every reasonable effort is made to maintain rates as quoted, however, due to circumstances beyond our control (fuel, taxes, etc.) rates are subject to change with notice. Increased government taxes and fuel surcharges may be collected by the vendor at the time service is provided.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. its owners, associates, agents, and employees) assume no responsibility for injury, loss, damage to person or property or for additional expenses due to acts of God, sickness, weather, terrorism, strike detentions, riots war, quarantine, theft, civil unrest, or government regulations and restrictions, over which it has no control.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. assumes no responsibility for any accidents, delays, inconveniences, expense, or mishap of any kind whatsoever resulting entirely or in part from causes beyond our control.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. reserves the right to make changes that we deem to be reasonable in the itinerary where necessary.
- For trips and tours where FIND MY COSTA RICA, Inc. acts solely as booking agents, we assume no liability should any contracted supplier fail to provide any service. Bill Beard’s sole responsibility if the supplier fails to provide services contracted is to refund guests money for specific services contracted with a specific supplier.
- Handling and security of all baggage and personal belongings are at the owner’s risk and FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A.. is not responsible for any loss or damage.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. is not responsible for loss of life, personal injury, cancellations, delays, overbooking, or loss of services caused by any international or domestic flights.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. its employees and principles are not responsible for any loss of life, personal injury, bodily injury, or loss of property as a result of the signer’s participation in any activities while in Costa Rica or travel to, from, or within Costa Rica caused by contracted Costa Rican representatives, tour companies or agents.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. shall be free of all responsibility or liability for any act, error, omission, injury to person or property, loss, inconvenience, financial loss, accident, delay, irregularity, physical or emotional harm suffered by any person while en route to or while a guest at any facility or any other event which may be occasioned by reason or through the act of God, theft, abuse, defect, or default of any company, hotel, person, direct air carrier, transfer company, and /or their employees, to result in unused accommodations or services in connection with reservations made on behalf of the customer by FIND MY COSTA RICA S.A.
- FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. is not responsible for providing refunds or credits for trips not taken or delayed due to a customer’s failure to return this signed document prior to or at the time final payment is made.
- Any disputes between participants and FIND MY COSTA RICA, S.A. will be decided upon under Costa Rican law and La Fortuna, San Carlos Carillo, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica, will be the venue for any legal action.
